The LASIK Journey

Am I a Candidate for LASIK?

Step One: Scheduling Your Complimentary Consultation

Your journey begins at your complimentary consultation appointment. Expect to spend approximately an hour at our office meeting with our LASIK Coordinator and a doctor to determine your surgery options. Request a consultation here, via telephone, or at your annual eye exam. A doctor referral is not required to schedule a consultation.

Step Two: Complimentary Consultation

During your consultation, the LASIK Coordinator will take detailed scans and perform a variety of tests on your eyes. Based on this information, a doctor will determine your eligibility, discuss surgery options with you, and answer any questions you may have.

Step Three: Pre-Operative Appointment

At this appointment, the LASIK Coordinator will collect final measurements through various scans and discuss pre/post-surgical care instructions. Additionally, you will have a full dilated eye exam, which can be performed by your primary eye doctor.

A prescription for eye drops will be sent to your preferred pharmacy and should be pick up at least 2 days prior to your surgery day.

*Contact lenses can temporarily reshape the cornea, or front surface of your eye. Because of this, we require you to discontinue use at least 1 week prior to your pre-op appointment and remain out of contacts until your surgery date (typically 2 weeks total).

Step Four: Surgery Day

On the day of your surgery, arrive with a driver at your scheduled surgery time. The LASIK Coordinator will review final paperwork and answer any last-minute questions you may have. Our LASIK Surgeon will then walk you through what to expect during and after your procedure, ensuring you are comfortable with the process to come.

The refractive surgery will take place in our surgical suite and for most patients it is less than 15 minutes. Afterwards, a doctor will check to ensure the healing process has started and you will be cleared to head home with your driver.

Step Five: Post-Operative Care

Following your procedure, you will administer prescription eye drops that promote healing and prevent infection. Additionally, you will complete 6 post-op appointments, the first of which will occur the day after your surgery and will be scheduled with your primary eye doctor. You will need a driver for this appointment but may be cleared to drive home based on your vision post surgery.
