The Heidelberg Retina Tomograph is a system that combines a laser scanning camera and specialized software that evaluates the optic nerve. The HRT may diagnose glaucoma years before symptoms become apparent to the patient. The HRT gives measurements of size, depth and shape of the optic nerve and is especially useful at detecting small changes over time.
The HRT exam takes just a few moments; it is a painless, non-invasive test and dilation of the eye is usually not necessary. The HRT is and accurate way to follow your progress and we may order repeat exams periodically to check your progress.
Remember that the key to controlling glaucoma is catching it early. The best way to prevent vision loss form glaucoma is to know your risk factors and to have eye examinations at appropriate intervals.
The OptomapĀ® Retinal Exam is unique in that it gives eyecare professionals a much larger view (200 degrees) of the back of the eye – your retina – than conventional eye exam equipment. The images can be taken without dilating your pupils – a very common procedure which is uncomfortable and inconvenient for many people.
The Optomap image is displayed immediately after being taken, allowing the eye care professional to review it quickly and if necessary, refer you to a retinal specialist. Using the Internet, the image can be sent anywhere in the world for a specialist to review.
Each Optomap image is as individual as fingerprints or DNA and can provide eye care professionals with a unique view of your health very quickly and comfortably. The Optomap image is captured in less than one second and is immediately available for you and your doctor to review.
The Stratus OCT incorporates ocular coherence tomography technology to provide comprehensive imaging and measurement of glaucoma and retinal disease. Stratus OCT is the gold standard in vivo imaging device for the posterior segment and offers proven reproducibility for disease management. The Stratus OCT provides real-time cross-sectional images and quantitative analysis of retinal features to optimize the diagnosis and monitoring of retinal disease and for enhanced pre- and post-therapy assessment. The device is beneficial for evaluation of cataract patients, pre- and post-operatively, and for the assessment of early signs of glaucoma and glaucomatous change.
The IOLMaster Advanced Technology is capable of measuring more patients without user intervention. The optimal measurement setting in relation to the patient is displayed through an adjustment aid in the keratometer and anterior chamber depth mode. Almost every initiation of a measurement can thus result in a valid measurement. Dependence of keratometry and anterior chamber depth on the user was further reduced.
Humphrey Zeiss Visual Field is a technique that has been designed for rapid and effective detection of visual field loss due to glaucoma and other ocular diseases. Years of research and clinical trials of this technology have resulted in an instrument which provides rapid, clinically validated and user-friendly visual field testing. We have all our patients undergo this procedure as some visual field defects are completely asymptomatic. In some cases, we have diagnosed eye and neurological disease based on the results of this test.
We are the only eye care facility in Centre County to own the Humphrey Corneal Topography System. This computerized photographic instrument surveys the cornea and provides a detailed topographical “map” of its shape. The corneal topography system is a major advancement in corneal analysis. In addition to contact lenses and refractive surgery applications, the Humphrey Corneal Topography System can detect slight conditions often invisible to even the most thorough conventional testing. The system can also help your doctor monitor subtle changes on your cornea over time.
