On Friday, April 20th, 2012, Centre Volunteers in Medicine is hosting “Give Kids a Smile and Vision for the Future”. This even provides Centre County children without insurance with free comprehensive dental care, plus vision and hearing screenings.
“Give Kids a Smile and Vision for the Future” is for children between the ages of 3 and 18, who live in Centre County, and whose parents or guardians meet a certain income criteria. This program is made possible through the generosity of Pediatric Dental Associates, Nittany Eye Associates, Albrecht Audiology, Centre County Drug and Alcohol, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Henry-Schein Dental, Vision Benefits of America, and local volunteers.
In 2011, “Give Kids a Smile and Vision for the Future” helped close to 60 local kids have dental, vision, and hearing screenings. Some of the services performed that day included dental cleanings, fillings, sealants, and extractions, and also prescription glasses where ordered. Imagine being a child in pain because of cavities or not being able to see or hear! The total services provided in one day exceeded $36,000!
